0 star rating by Boomert - Aussie Legends by Tom Baddeley 01 Nov 2009
Aussie Legends looks at the lives of a selection of Australians who have contributed to the advancement of the country in a wide range of areas--from sports, entertainment and beyond. The book takes an original approach to some traditional subject matter and creates an accessible resource for ages eight plus. Although the inclusion of some characters and exclusion of others is bound to cause some debate, there is something for everyone in this book. Aussie Legends takes a novel approach and uses rhyme to narrate the subject’s lives which makes for entertaining reading, as well as creating fresh interest in the information contained within. The illustrations are colourful and modern and give the book a less academic feel, making this a great resource to encourage the reluctant reader. Aussie Legends will be an excellent resource for schools and libraries and would be the ideal book to encourage primary school students to take an interest in Australian history. For adult readers there may also be some aspects of these famous lives that will come as a surprise.
