Book Review: Born to Run by Michael Morpurgo - Reviewed by Romi Foster (25 Nov 2011) Previously titled Best Mate, this is the story of a dog found with it's brothers and sisters in a hessian sack, floating along the river, left to die cruelly. The readers will immeditely love this cute little dog, and we feel for him, we breathe with him and are happy as he is. But his happiness is shortly lived, as he is kidnapped and taken from his owner, a boy he loves and who is his entire world. We hear Best Mate's owner, Patrick call for him and it could bring a tear to your eye as he is driven away, to see horrors. Will he ever be safe and happy now? There is Becca, but she's got sorrows plentiful... will best mate get back to his home? Or will he fins a new one? One of Morpurgo's best.
