David Chipperfield by David Chipperfield
David Chipperfield worked for both Richard Rogers and Foster Associates before establishing his own practice in 1984. Often erroneously thought of as a minimalist architect, he has become one of the most conceptionally complex architects working today, thanks to the diversity and depth of his realized projects. Amongst his highly acclaimed projects are the River & Rowing Museum which was his first major commission in England, the Knight House, or the masterplan for the Museum Island in Berlin. More recently his projects include the Villa in Berlin-Schoneberg and the elegant office building in Dusseldorf. Chipperfield is also active in Milan, Venice, Madrid, the USA, and Japan. Beautifully designed by Quentin Newark this book presents with over 60 projects Chipperfield's complete oeuvre. An essay focuses on his creative process and the architect's considerations on the architectonic development over the last decades. Jonathan Keates and Kenneth Frampton analyse key aspects of Chipperfield's architecture.

Comment on David Chipperfield by David Chipperfield
Filippo Brunelleschi by Eugenio Battisti
A comprehensive study of the important Florentine architect and sculptor Filippo Brunelleschi.
On and by Frank Lloyd Wright by Robert McCarter
This volume brings together the most important essays on and by Frank Lloyd Wright, described by the American Institute of Architects as 'the greatest American architect of all time', as well as providing an overview of the very principles that are at the foundation of great architecture.
Adolf Loos by Joseph Masheck
Widely regarded as one of the significant prophets of modern architecture, Adolf Loos was a celebrity in his own day. This book argues that Loos' masterful "astylistic architecture" was an appreciation of tradition and utility and not, as most architectural historians have argued, a mere repudiation of the florid style of the Vienna Secession.
Kengo Kuma by Kenneth Frampton
The quintessential Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma has forged a modern design language that artfully combines the countries traditional building crafts with sophisticated technologies and materials. This title documents a leading light of the global architecture scene and offers insight into interpretations of Japans ancient building traditions.
Neues Museum Berlin, Paperback (November 2009)
Documents the author's most important project: the Neues Museum, the centrepiece of the Berlin Museumsinsel. In this title, photographs show the rooms after their completion and before they were furnished. It also describes the fragmented history of which this building is evidence, thanks to its many layers.
Responding to Chaos, Paperback (December 2000)
A celebration of a unique culture and its experience, Responding to Chaos offers a timely examination of Japanese design at the start of a century. » Have you read this book? We'd like to know what you think about it - write a review and you'll earn Boomerang Bucks loyalty dollars! |
