The Einstein Reader

Einstein Reader by Albert Einstein
Book DescriptionThis work presents letters from a legend: a rare collection of essays, articles and correspondence. It offers an exclusive collection of more than 65 essays, letters and articles written during the later years of Einstein's career. Albert Einstein was more than "just" a scientist (more, even, than "just" the single most influential figure in the whole of post-Galilean science) - he was a pre-eminent thinker, a humanist deeply concerned with the application and consequence of all branches of knowledge. "The Einstein Reader" is a celebration of Einstein's life and innermost thoughts, focusing on the crucial years at the end of his career - 1934 to 1950. The enlightening pieces collected within explore a wide range of subjects, including freedom; international security; Zionism; morals; and the atomic threat to world peace. Famously a fateful contributor to that threat, Einstein's final musings on the subject are as illuminating and urgent now as they were when they were written. Perhaps, even more so. This remarkable volume also contains Einstein's writings on such personalities as Mahatma Gandhi, Isaac Newton and Marie Curie, plus explanations of his major scientific works and theories.
