Passion for Society by Iain Wilkinson Passion for Society, Paperback (January 2016)

What does human suffering mean for society? And how has this meaning changed from the past to the present? In what ways does "the problem of suffering" serve to inspire us to care for others? How does our response to suffering reveal our moral and social conditions? The author offers some answers to these questions.

Risk Vulnerability and Everyday Life by Iain Wilkinson Risk Vulnerability and Everyday Life, Hardback (July 2009)

Outlines contrasting sociological theories of risk, and summarizes some of the principle discoveries of empirical research conducted into the ways people perceive, experience and respond to a world of danger. This book examines some of the moral concerns and political interests that feature in this area of study.

Health, Risk and Vulnerability by Iain Wilkinson Health, Risk and Vulnerability, Hardback (June 2007)

Investigates the personal and political dimensions of health risk that structure everyday thought and action. This book aims to reflect upon the meaning and significance of risk across a range of social and institutional contexts, exploring various issues. It is useful for students, teachers, researchers, and policy makers.

Suffering by Iain Wilkinson Suffering, Paperback (October 2004)

* Provides a convincing exploration of a central theme of our times: human suffering. The author writes well; his remarks on the brute fact of suffering are very powerfully made. * There are no real rivals to this book, since until its publication there had been no really systematic sociological theorisation of pain and suffering.
