Author Biography - Robert Holman

Robert Holman was born in Guisborough, Cleveland, in 1952. After leaving school he worked at the bookstall on Paddington Station for two years, before becoming a full-time writer in 1974. His plays, which include Making Noise Quietly and Bad Weather (both published by NHB), have mostly been premiered by the RSC and the Royal Court. He has been resident dramatist at the National Theatre and at the RSC. His first novel, The Amish Landscape, was published by NHB in 1992 and paperbacked by Penguin the following year. He lives in south west London.
