Infinitely Demanding by Simon Critchley
Book Description"Infinitely Demanding" is the clearest, boldest and most systematic statement of Simon Critchley's influential views on philosophy, ethics and politics. Part diagnosis of the times, part theoretical analysis of the impasses and possibilities of ethics and politics, part manifesto, "Infinitely Demanding" identifies a massive political disappointment at the heart of liberal democracy. Arguing that what is called for is an ethics of commitment that can inform a radical politics, it culminates in an argument for anarchism as an ethical practice and a re-motivating means of political organization.

Problem with Levinas, Hardback (July 2015)» View all books by Simon Critchley
Levinas's idea of ethics as a relation of responsibility to others has become highly influential. Simon Critchley proposes a dramatic new way of reading Levinas's work, and provides a less familiar, more troubling, account of it. He argues that Levinas's fundamental problem was the attempt to escape the tragic fatality of Heidegger's philosophy.
