Killing for England by Iain McDowall
Book DescriptionChief Inspector Jacobson and DS Kerr had been on leave when the body of a young black man, Darren McGee, had been fished out of the River Crow. The autopsy had pointed to suicide by drowning. But now Darren's cousin, Paul Shaw, is in town: a top-notch investigative journalist with an axe to grind and a claim that Darren had really been the victim of a racially-motivated murder. Jacobson isn't convinced. But when Paul Shaw turns up as dead and as terminally-wet as his cousin, Jacobson and Kerr are faced with a baffling double-murder to investigate. And a dangerous confrontation lies ahead with the murky world of the Far Right.

Brady, Annabel, Maria, Adrian. Four sexy, nice-looking twenty-somethings leading the high life at other people's expense. With a sideline too: abducting and terrifying young women and calling it 'art'. Except now they're in Crowby and - unless DCI Jacobson and DS Kerr can crack the case in time - Brady and company may soon be graduating to murder.
Perfectly Dead, Paperback (March 2006)
Chief Inspector Jacobson hates drug-related cases. Not because it means he has to work with the drug squad. But there's no alternative when a local dealer turns up burnt, battered and dead. Death doesn't get any grimmer, Jacobson thinks. But that's because Jacobson, DS Kerr and Crowby CID are still 48 hours away from the Perfect Family killings.
