Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Book DescriptionMeg is the eldest and on the brink of love. Then there's tomboy Jo who longs to be a writer. Sweet-natured Beth always puts others first, and finally there's Amy, the youngest and most precocious. Together they are the March sisters. Even though money is short, times are tough and their father is away at war, their infectious sense of fun sweeps everyone up in their adventures - including Laurie, the boy next door. And through sisterly squabbles, their happy times and sad ones too, the sisters discover that growing up is sometimes very hard to do. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is one of the twenty wonderful classic stories being reissued in Puffin Classics in March 2015.

Book Review: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - Reviewed by Romi Foster (28 Nov 2011)
Little Women, a classic for every day that will change your life from the very first page and alter it magnificently after the last page of this terrific book is closed. Then you just have to get the second book in the series.
I adored Little Women and I have a feeling that everyone who reads it will be able to connect with one of the characters, I connected with Jo and felt that she was a marvalous friend by the time I had closed the book, and am now, as I write this, feeling awfully shocked that I haven't continued with the series. I must. Because it deserves it; it is sad, joyful and a wonderful read!

Louisa May Alcott (1832-88) was brought up in Pennsylvania, USA. She turned to writing in order to supplement the family income and had many short stories published in magazines and newspapers.
