Locally Presentable and Accessible Categories by Jiri Adamek
Book DescriptionThe concepts of a locally presentable category and an accessible category have turned out to be useful in formulating connections between universal algebra, model theory, logic and computer science. The aim of this book is to provide an exposition of both the theory and the applications of these categories at a level accessible to graduate students. Firstly the properties of l-presentable objects, locally l-presentable categories, and l-accessible categories are discussed in detail, and the equivalence of accessible and sketchable categories is proved. The authors go on to study categories of algebras and prove that Freyd's essentially algebraic categories are precisely the locally presentable categories. In the final chapters they treat some topics in model theory and some set theoretical aspects. For researchers in category theory, algebra, computer science, and model theory, this book will be a necessary purchase.

Algebraic Theories, Hardback (November 2010)
Up-to-date categorical view of sets with extra algebraic structure (data types), with applications in mathematics and theoretical computer science.
Abstract and Concrete Categories, Paperback (January 2009)
This up-to-date introductory treatment employs category theory to explore the theory of structures. Its unique approach stresses concrete categories and presents a systematic view of factorization structures. Numerous examples. 1990 edition, updated 2004.
Foundations of Coding, Hardback (May 1991)» View all books by Jiri Adamek
Although devoted to constructions of good codes for error control, secrecy or data compression, the emphasis is on the first direction. Introduces a number of important classes of error--detecting and error--correcting codes as well as their decoding methods. Background material on modern algebra is presented where required.
