In this book the author first makes a strong case for the existence of religion in our life by examining evolutionary, psychological and social forces that underpin them. The author then looks at the roots of religion of each of the major faiths, exploring the concept that each had a charismatic founder with which to propagate the ideas of the faith. Finally, a case is made for Stephen Jay Gould’s Non-Overlapping Magisteria (NOMA) with which to balance the conflict science has traditionally had with religion.
The author has made this book an enjoyable read with topics described in rich detail and cross referenced with examples from philosophy, science and history showing a wide knowledge of the subject areas. Furthermore, the author adds a personal touch to the book by drawing upon his own experiences to shows us that religion is an interesting and above all, relevant subject in our lives. A very rewarding and engaging read, highlighting the rationale for religion and science to co-exist. The book is well researched explores evolution of region, from historical, philosophical and scientific view points. A very easy read from start to finish and contains valuable points to Darwinism debate.
The person stories from the authors background add a nice personal touch.
