The book deals with the death of Ruth and Simon's baby very explicitly and explores the ramifications closely and intimately. Mim, for the first time since Ruth's mother died, is not there. She has gone on a trip to Broken Hill, her mother's home town to escape the feelings of being left behind her friend. Ruth tries to contact her friend but Mim appears to be uninterested. Author Biography - Sophie Townsend
Sophie Townsend, daughter of well known author, Helen, worked in ABC Radio but is now working with an interactive marketing agency as a copywriter and account manager. She has written two plays for ABC Radio - "Embryonics" and "Blisters" and has produced two documentaries for ABC Radio National - one for Hindsight, and one for Radio Eye. In 2004 she co-wrote "Loss and Gloss", a two-woman show performed at the Darlinghurst Theatre. "Misconceptions" is her first novel.
