US Kirkus Review » This fine conclusion to the Noble Warriors Trilogy continues the tale of the three - Seeker for Truth, Morning Star and Wildman - as they travel across their drought-afflicted land to complete their mission. Fans will cheer on the many reappearing characters and welcome several new ones; it is through the strength of characterization that the power of this trilogy comes through. The whole, read in order, is far stronger than any of the volumes taken individually: The exploration of religion and of ethical behavior will provoke thought and lead, where encouraged, to discussion. Thematic wealth and stylistic sophistication that combines shifting points of view and a complex narrative structure complement a skillful use of language and flawless balance of description and exposition. The story's somewhat opaque and melodramatic climax may stretch readers' suspension of disbelief, but its ultimate resolution will satisfy all but the most exacting reader. Give this series to readers of His Dark Materials and recommend it to middle- and high-school teachers. (Fantasy. 12-15) (Kirkus Reviews)
