Perspectives on World Politics by Richard Little
Book DescriptionPerspectives on World Politics has been essential reading for students of international relations since the 1980s. This new edition fully updates this key text for the twenty-first century. Focusing on the main competing analytical perspectives, the first and second editions established an authoritative sense of the conceptual tools used to study world politics, as well as reflecting on the major debates and responses to changes in the world arena. This third edition builds on the success of its predecessors by presenting a fresh set of readings within this framework: * power and security * interdependence and globalization * dominance and resistance. It also includes a much-expanded fourth section, 'World Politics in Perspective', which reflects the methodological and normative debates that have developed since publication of the previous edition. This is an essential text for all students and scholars of politics and international relations.

Books By Author Richard Little
Evolution of International Society, Paperback (March 2009)
Explains how international societies function across time. This book examines the ancient state systems and looks at the worldwide international society. It demonstrates that relations between states are not normally anarchic, but organized and regulated by elaborate rules and practices, which derive substantially from experience.
Balance of Power in International Relations, Hardback (September 2007)
An authoritative 2007 analysis of the concept of the balance of power in international relations.
Balance of Power in World History, Paperback (August 2007)
The balance of power is one of the most influential ideas in international relations, yet it has never been comprehensively examined in pre-modern or non-European contexts. This book redresses this imbalance. The authors present eight new case studies of balancing and balancing failure in pre-modern and non-European international systems.
Anarchical Society in a Globalized World, Hardback (May 2006)» View all books by Richard Little
Offers contemporary commentary on one of the enduring and important works of international theory: Hedley Bull's "The Anarchical Society". This collection brings together leading writers on the English school, and analyzes how Bull's account of order fares in the face of globalization.
