Producing Welfare by Chris Miller
Book DescriptionThis text is about the organization and delivery of welfare services, a subject that is the focus of hot debate as successive governments seek to "modernize" public services in response to social, economic and political change. Written specifically for a student readership, it provides a critical and contemporary exploration of the organizational models, processes and structures associated with different approaches to welfare, including traditional post war approaches and the new right. Particular emphasis is given to the formulation and implementation of policy under Tony Blair's Labour government.

Struggle to Save the Soviet Economy, Hardback (December 2016)
Why did the Soviet economy suddenly collapse in the late 1980s, only a few years after Mikhail Gorbachev came to power? In this groundbreaking study, Chris Miller shows that although Gorbachev and his allies sought to learn from China's economic reforms under Deng Xiaoping, their efforts to revitalize Soviet socialism proved much less successful.
Environmental Rights, Paperback (August 2014)
This volume offers perspectives on contemporary debates over rights and environmental issues, criticizing the traditional ecocentric formulation and the view that it is meaningful to speak of environmental rights as a sub-set of human rights.
