Reactive Distillation Design and Control by William L. Luyben
Book DescriptionAfter an overview of the fundamentals, limitations, and scope of reactive distillation, this book uses rigorous models for steady-state design and dynamic analysis of different types of reactive distillation columns and quantitatively compares the economics of reactive distillation columns with conventional multi-unit processes. It goes beyond traditional steady-state design that primarily considers the capital investment and energy costs when analyzing the control structure and the dynamic robustness of disturbances, and discusses how to maximize the economic and environmental benefits of reactive distillation technology.

Books By Author William L. Luyben
Distillation Design and Control Using Aspen Simulation, Hardback (May 2013)
The new edition of this book greatly updates and expands the previous edition. It boasts new chapters on the divided wall column and carbon dioxide capture from stack gas, revises the design and control of distillation systems, and explains the use of dynamic simulation to study safety issues in the event of operating failures.
Principles and Case Studies of Simultaneous Design, Hardback (October 2011)
There are many comprehensive design books, but none of them provide a significant number of detailed economic design examples of typically complex industrial processes. Most of the current design books cover a wide variety of topics associated with process design.
Design and Control of Distillation Systems for Separating Azeotropes, Hardback (April 2010)
An azeotrope is a mixture of two or more compounds that cannot be separated or changed by simple distillation. This book addresses an important issue in the energy crisis: the distillation of azeotropes to improve the processing of biofuels.
Chemical Reactor Design and Control, Hardback (September 2007)» View all books by William L. Luyben
Chemical Reactor Design and Control uses process simulators like Matlab(r), Aspen Plus, and Aspen Dynamics to study the design of chemical reactors and their dynamic control. There are numerous books that focus on steady-state reactor design. There are no books that consider practical control systems for real industrial reactors.
