Remy, our narrator, is just such a man - making his living reclaiming organs from debtors who can no longer afford them. With five marriages and five divorces behind him, his life is his business and his business is to take life. And business is good until one day Remy finds himself being hunted by the same people he once worked with. Now he is holed up in a deserted building (that he soon discovers is not completely deserted), writing his story on a beat-up typewriter in the hopes of getting it all down on paper before the Repo Man shows up to collect on his debts. And what a story it is...
