Author Biography - Moliere
Moliere (1622-73) is one of the greatest writers of comedy of all time. Les Fourberies de Scapin dates from 1671 and was one of his last plays. Others include Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, The Miser, and The Hypochondriac; all available in the NHB Drama Classics series. Jeremy Sams is a director, translator, adaptor, composer and music director. He has worked extensively on Stephen Sondheim's musicals and adapted Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the West End. He won the Ivor Novello Award for his score for the film of Enduring Love. His translations of Schiller's Mary Stuart and Cocteau's Les Parents Terribles, both seen at the National Theatre, are both published by NHB.
