Books By Author W. Somerset Maugham
Plays, Paperback (February 2017)
In his day, W Somerset Maugham was most celebrated as a playwright. This collection of his most popular plays manifests the breadth of his ability. It includes the noirish mystery The Sacred Flame, the hilarious satires The Circle, The Constant Wife, and Our Betters, and the sharp-witted drama Sheppey.
Of Human Bondage, Hardback (September 2015)
Philip's yearning for adventure takes him to Germany and later Paris where he tries to make his mark as an artist before returning to London to study medicine. Here, a tortured and one-sided love affair with Mildred, a vulgar yet irresistible waitress, changes the course of his life for ever.
Moon and Sixpence, Paperback (April 2015)
Features Charles Strickland, a respectable London stockbroker who decides in middle age to abandon his wife and children and devote himself to his true passion: art. This complex novel echoes the author's own struggles between artistic expression and public respectability, and between his public persona and private life.

Author Biography - W. Somerset Maugham
William Somerset Maugham was born in 1874 and lived in Paris until he was ten. He was educated at King's School, Canterbury, and at Heidelberg University. He spent some time at St. Thomas' Hospital with the idea of practising medicine, but the success of his first novel, Liza of Lambeth, published in 1897, won him over to literature. Of Human Bondage, the first of his masterpieces, came out in 1915, and with the publication in 1919 of The Moon and Sixpence his reputation as a novelist was established. At the same time his fame as a successful playwright and writer was being consolidated with acclaimed productions of various plays and the publication of several short story collections. His other works include travel books, essays, criticism and the autobiographical The Summing Up and A Writer's Notebook. In 1927 Somerset Maugham settled in the South of France and lived there until his death in 1965.
