Book Description

Who were the craftsmen who wove these textiles? How were they worn and why were they made? Are there different styles for different villages? Can we read stories into the designs and how should we interpret them? What were the dyes and materials which were used and the principal weaving techniques employed? In her introduction Anne Hecht provides the background information to bring the pieces to life. Where appropriate, brief commentaries highlight the design features and detailed captions throughout provide the textile student with relevant technical information. In addition all techniques and terms are fully explained in a glossary.
