Touch by Claire North
Boomerang Books Recommends: The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August announced the arrival of a very special talent. Claire North maybe the pseudonym for Catherine Webb (and Kate Griffin), who has already published a number of books, but Harry August was something else entirely. It was bold, intelligent, gripping and mind-blowing. Before the real identity of the pseudonym was revealed I was prepared to believe that Claire North could have been any already majorly established author, the writing was that good. With her follow-up novel, Claire North not only confirms that she is worthy of comparison with established authors, she leaves them all for dust. Read more on our blog...

Touch by Claire North
From the author of 'The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August' comes this year's most electrifying thriller. Read the first seven chapters http://www.orbitbooks.net/touchbook/ 'A work of sparkling originality that works both as mesmerising thriller and exploration of what it means, at the most profound level, to be human' - Alex Marwood 'The high stakes and breakneck pace of the plot will draw readers in, and the meditations on what it means to be human and to be loved will linger long after the last shot is fired' - Kirkus 'As intriguing and breathless as it is brilliantly original . . . Agile, unpredictable, this one will keep you awake at night in the search for answers' - Love Reading 'Triumphant . . . This novel is utterly engaging, addictive, and thought-provoking . . . simply superb' - Civilian Reader

Book Review: Touch by Claire North - Reviewed by ShelvesGroan (04 Jan 2016)
I thoroughly enjoyed Touch by "Claire North" (pseudonym) The writer's deliciously detailed knowledge of historical times and places is the cream on the cake which is already scrumptiously filled with fast action, poignant and confronting conversations about how one's life is lived and twists and turns that keep the reader excitedly flipping the pages despite promising they'll turn off the light 20 pages beforehand. If you loved "The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August" I reckon you'll find Touch just as appealing, yet different enough to have you explore a whole new set of "what ifs" about time-space and inhabitance of the human mind and soul. The cleverness of the author and their detailed research has me quite impatient for their next book...
Book Review: Touch by Claire North - Reviewed by CloggieA (10 Mar 2015)
“Problem with moving into a new body, you never quite know where it’s been.”
Touch is the second novel by British author, Claire North. The entity known to his/her/its enemies as Kepler has been around for quite some time. And Kepler is not the only entity of this type: a ghost who can move from body to body by touch. Carefully done, this can happen with minimal disruption to lives; of course, long term hosts will find their lives much changed, although Kepler tries to leave them significantly better off. But just as Kepler is settling into a mutually beneficial arrangement with Josephine Cebula, she is shot and killed in a Turkish Metro station, by a gunman who is clearly watching for where Kepler will go next. Who is trying to kill Kepler, and why?
This is a fast-paced thriller that spans over two centuries, and at least three continents. The plot is highly original, taking several turns before reaching a spectacular climax at the...
Author Biography - Claire North
Claire North and Kate Griffin are pseudonyms for Catherine Webb – a Carnegie Medal-nominated British author. She read History at the London School of Economics, and studied technical theatre at RADA. Webb describes herself as a fan of big cities, urban magic, Thai food and graffiti-spotting, and she is endlessly fascinated by such questions as who leaves copies of the yellow pages on top of bus shelters, how the hidden tunnels beneath the sorting office were built, and why anyone would ever dispose of perfectly good pairs of shoes by throwing them over the nearest telephone line.
