Book Review: Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick - Reviewed by Romi Foster (23 Nov 2011)
Wonderstruck is an amazing novel- part book and part drawing, it tells the intricate and delicate stories of two children, both living in different times, fifty years apart, and both travelling to Ney York to be free, to find people who will love them.
One story, that of Ben, a boy who is partially deaf, is told only in words, and the other, the story of Rose a fully deaf girl living fifty years before Ben's time, is told fully in Brian Selznick's amazing pictures. Both are heart rendering and powerful beyond belief, they are a treasure and can be read over and over again. For any age.
