Big names in running for Gold Medal

Several big names are in the running for the Australian Literary Society's 2008 Gold Medal.

Several big names are in the running for the Australian Literary Society's 2008 Gold Medal. The award for an 'outstanding Australian literary work', which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, will go to one of:

  • The Lost Dog (Michelle de Kretser, A&U)
  • Not Finding Wittgenstein (J S Harry, Giramondo)
  • Feather Man (Rhyll McMaster, Brandl & Schlesinger)
  • Typewriter Music (David Malouf, UQP)
  • Landscape of Farewell (Alex Miller, A&U)

The winner will be announced during the annual conference of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature, which takes place at the University of Wollongong from 29 June until 2 July.
