Indigenous Literacy Day takes place around Australia today, with many booksellers and publishers donating a percentage of their day's earnings to the Indigenous Literacy Project.

Events taking place around the country include an appearance by Yvette Holt, author of Anonymous Premonition which won this year's Prize for Indigenous Writing at the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards on Monday night, at the State Library of Queensland from 6.30pm; Alexis Wright, Arnold Zable, John Marsden and Adrian Hyland appearing at the State Library of Victoria from 6.30pm; and guests including author Tara June Winch appearing in an evening event at the NSW State Library.

Readers can support the day by purchasing a book from participating booksellers, attending events and contributing to the Indigenous Literacy Project. To find out what's happening in your state, or how to contribute, visit www.worldwithoutbooks.org.
