The longlist for the 2008 Man Asia Literary Prize was announced on Tuesday.
Among the longlisted titles is Leave Me Alone, Chengdu by Chinese author Murong Xuecun, for which Allen & Unwin publisher Jane Palfreyman purchased the rights ‘nearly a year ago', according to Benython Oldfield of literary agency Zeitgeist Media Group, which ‘discovered' the title.
Oldfield told WBN A&U would be the first in the world to publish the book in English when it is released in May next year.
Last year's winner of the prize was Wolf Totem by Chinese author Jiang Rong, published by Penguin.
