Victorian government arts funding announced

A total of $250,000 has been dedicated to literature projects in the Victorian Government's latest round of arts grants.

A total of $250,000 has been dedicated to literature projects in the Victorian Government's latest round of arts grants.

This includes $50,000 to longstanding literary journal Overland; $30,000 to the Emerging Writers' Festival; and $32,000 in operational funding to Sticky Institute, a non-profit retail environment for zines, writing and print culture.

Victorian authors also received support for new works. Prime Minister's Literary Award winner Stephen Conte (The Zookeeper's War, Fourth Estate) received support for a second novel ($15,000); Damon Young, author of Distraction (MUP), for a popular philosophy work ($14,000); Wayne Macauley (Caravan Story, Black Pepper) for a third novel ($10,000); and author/mathematician Robyn Arianrhod (Einstein's Heroes: Imagining the World Through the Language of Mathematics, UQP) for a nonfiction manuscript ($11,000).
