Australia's national day played a significant role in the order of the Most Mentioned titles this weekend. Peter Carey's latest novel His Illegal Self nabbed the top spot. It's the story of a young boy being brought up by his grandmother in New York. He is denied access to television and the news. He eventually ends up in Queensland in an attempt to understand his life. While the novel is Australian in theme and authorship, it was True Blue?: On Being Australian that most reflected the mood of the long weekend. Writers, journalists, photographers and more have put their thoughts and images together to try to figure out what makes us so unique.
