Chris Cleave is not shy in dealing with controversial themes in his books. His first novel deals with a terrorist attack in London, and now he's back with a second novel that explores the reality of illegal immigration. In The Other Hand, husband-and-wife journalists take a beach holiday to Nigeria to work on their marital problems. On their travels they meet two Nigerian girls who are victims of their country's oil war. The couple survive a bloody fight on the beach and escape home, but neither is able to move on from the experience.
