Richard Harland’s Wolf Kingdom: Escape! is the first volume of a four-volume adventure for younger readers. Tam and Nina live on the edge of the Eld Forest with their parents. Until now they have escaped the attentions of the evil wolves who rule the kingdom, but now their parents have been captured and their house burned down. Their only option is to escape into the forest and seek out the Free Folk. They must survive the perils of the forest, avoid the wolves, and encounter a sarcastic magical belt and a mysterious monk before they reach safety. Wolf Kingdom: Escape! is one of the launch titles in a new series of four-book fantasy stories for middle to upper primary readers written by some of Australia’s top fantasy authors. Other authors involved include Kim Wilkins, Ian Irvine and Fiona McIntosh. The book is attractively packaged and fast-paced. Each chapter features a dynamic full-page illustration by Laura Peterson. This is an engaging story for younger readers, whose main problem may be the wait for the next volume!
