Prime Ministers made interesting-that’s worth reading! Aimed at the seven-plus age group, this book has gathered many quirky facts and presented them in short, easily digestible titbits. Ideal for use in schools, as well as encouraging the nonfiction reader, the illustrations are well suited to the usual selection of anecdotes. This book is littered with information that is important, peculiar, interesting and trivial. There is also a chart of the prime ministers, with their dates of office, and important events, such as the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The various political parties are only mentioned, the exotic details garner more importance. There are some serious facts such as parliamentary rules, mixed in with fashion foibles. Table manners garner a mention, as do the origins of the Commonwealth Police Force. This is a book to whet the appetite and encourage the reader to search out something of more depth. This book can be read in one sitting, or flicked through at intervals. It is up to date, including Kevin Rudd, our current Prime Minister. Improve your knowledge of the highest office in our country in a fun way. Learning doesn’t have to be boring-this book makes reference fun.
