The Story of Growl by Judy Horacek *

The Story of Growl is a beautiful picture book narrating the adventures of Growl-a very naughty little monster who likes nothing more than to growl (very loudly) around the grounds of her castle in Eucalyptus Drive. One day, Growl is so naughty that the neighbours have to call in the police to help and Growl learns a lesson about considering others.

The story is simply and humorously told and the illustrations not only compliment but also reinforce the book’s simple message. Parents and children should have a lot of fun with The Story of Growl as it provides just the right amount of message with vivid, energetic illustrations that cannot help but endear this little monster to even the hardest heart. The Story of Growl would be a fantastic kindy and pre-primary resource and would be suitable for children aged three and up. It is bound to be a runaway success and a delightful way for schools and libraries and parents to start 2007.
