Voyages around the Australian coast, discovering treasure and dealing with disappointment, emotions and spirits running high and low are due in Caribbee (Greg Dickson, Deep End Press, December), along with great research into Australian and Dutch maritime history. This is a follow-up to the adventures of Raising True North which was given a small print run by the press in 2000, and received a strong following from maritime aficionados and through the internet. Afloat magazine said ‘the publisher should have been making a whole lot more noise about it.’ They intend to with Dickson’s new adventure.
You can also get up close to the beauty of Australia’s natural environment and features in photographs with An
Intimate Portrait of Australia (Debra Doenges & Andrew Teakle, New Holland, December) or journey into the past with Old Sydney: A Pictorial History (Ian Collis, New Holland, December).
In time for Australia Day in January, Five Mile Press has Aussie Cakes and The Little Book of Big Aussie Icons
(Craig Scutt), both of which feature Coffs Harbour’s unmissable Big Banana..
