Book Review: Always Jack by Susanne Gervay - Reviewed by (31 May 2011)

Great book for kids and parents, Funny, real, lots of quirky characters. They're people you feel you know.

'Always Jack' deals with important issues in a way that makes you 'walk in another person's shoes'. Not didactic and preachy. Makes you laugh and sometimes choke up.

When a parent gets sick, it's a way to talk, share and work it out. It deals with life - Nanna who's getting old and can be annoying; Anna who could be Jack's girlfriend?; the step Dad who's working it out in a blended family; friends who come from another country; the impact of war on the Grandad on Jack's mate - real things.

Jack's a great kid. You know him or are him or he's your mate. Read 'Always Jack' -it'll surprise you.
