What can I say about this book. A Virginia Andrews craze ran rampant through my high-school way back in the late 80's, early 90's. Flowers in the attic was the 'every teenage girl must read' book a the time.
I believe this book to be the first in a series. but this first novel was the only one I really liked. The second book in the series goes off on a tangent of incest and soap-opera type storylines. Flowers in the attic is s dark twisted 'fairy-tale'. Frightening and cruel to think a Mother would lock her children away from the world like she did.

A book that questions the idea of a family, and the challenges that some go through in order to survive. Virginia Andrews has written a novel where the reader is kept on edge throughout, and not only wants to read it but try and understand the circumstances that caused that scenario to occur. Although some events do drag on far too much than necessary, Andrew’s has written a book that pushes the boundaries in relation to family, love, sex and money. It also brings to light the idea that children are growing into adults in dire situations where necessary and the actions that can lead to their utmost feeling of failure, it is a novel based on children being forced to grow up in not only the adult world, but the world that they were left to struggle in.
