Description - The Baffled Parent's Guide to Coaching Youth Basketball by David G. Faucher
The Baffled Parent's Guide to Coaching Youth Basketball is written for the unprepared parent who is unwittingly thrust into the role of coaching his or her child's basketball team. It provides the fundamentals a new coach needs to control, motivate, and encourage a disparate group of boys and girls of varying skills and dispositions. It addresses both broad organizational and logistical issues (How do I get uniforms or arrange for practice time?) and more focused specifics (What do I do at te first practice? How do I set up an offense? How can I get everyone to pay attention?). The text allows a coach to fit drills and skill-building exercises to players of various ages and abilities, and to build on those skills at each practice. Later chapters provide more advanced drills and strategies a coach can pick throughout the season. Discussions will deal with motivational, gender, and age differences, and the comprehensive art program will be ethnically diverse.
