Can't remember where you left the keys? Tired of trying to deal effectively with every day problems - and failing? Want to boost your intelligence by 70%? We think of memory as that which allows us to remember names, birthdays and where we left the car. But much more important is intelligent memory, the system which enables us to think intelligently and be creative. Contrary to popular assumptions, it is not fixed at birth, it gets stronger as we age and is exceptionally malleable. With Dr Gordon's revolutionary insights and simple, practical tools, you can learn how to access your unconscious, enhance your memory, and get smarter - well into your sixties and beyond.

If ever youve wondered where you put those car keys or cant think where youve seen Wotsisname before, it could be youre suffering from the wrong sort of memory. It seems there really are two types of memory, and this book reveals that the second one - intelligent memory - is the most important of the two. This is the memory that helps us solve problems, see the punchline of a joke faster and think more creatively. Also, intelligent memory doesnt deteriorate like the other sort. In fact it can be strengthened as we get older. Such is the promise of Dr Barry Gordon, a professor of neurology and one of the worlds leading memory authorities. He suggests that most people can boost their intelligence, which means logic and quick thinking, by 70 per cent. The book market has been inundated in recent years by do-it-yourself memory manuals like this one. The question is, do they work? Dr Gordon guarantees no quick fixes and is honest in saying you will benefit from his methods only if you are prepared to put in some effort. Not that this need be a chore. He provides a range of daily exercises and dozens of visual tests to see how you are faring. Most of these tests are fun and based on logic, though some of the pictorial ones are aimed at an American readership and their answers may not be obvious to Britons. Even so, Dr Gordon and his writer Lisa Berger offer plenty of food for thought and offer a new way of looking at the world. A book well worth remembering. (Kirkus UK)
