Mystery Tour is one of the titles in Allan Ahlberg's iconic children's picture book series about skeletons, Funnybones. Despite being set in a dark dark house, this brightly coloured book is perfect for early readers! One dark dark night the three skeletons go driving and solve six mysteries. Lots of things look and sound mysterious in the dark but the last mystery is the most important of all - if they don't solve it, they can't go home! 'By far our best writer for the young' - Daily Telegraph Allan Ahlberg has published over 100 children's books and with his late wife Janet, created many award-winning children's picture books, including Peepo!, Each Peach Pear Plum and the Kate Greenaway Medal winning The Jolly Postman. Other titles in the Funnybones series include Funnybones, The Ghost Train, The Black Cat, The Pet Shop, Bumps in the Night, Dinosaur Dreams, Skeleton Crew, Give the Dog a Bone and A Brilliant Bone Rattling Collection, all of which are available from Puffin.

Book Review: Funnybones by Allan Ahlberg - Reviewed by Sheepcoate (22 Apr 2013)
Mystery Tour was a fun book to read and interactive for the young listener. A group of skeletons go out for a drive a Mystery Tour. As they drive a around they see various items and you have to guess what it is. There is a certain amount of repetition in the book which children will enjoy and guessing the mystery item is fun.
The illustrations are basic and simplistic but nicely done as too compliment the story. They are not to scary considering the subject matter of the undead characters. Overall a fun book and nice and easy to read of the early reader.
