Description - Breath by Tim Winton

Tim Winton's Breath, winner of the Miles Franklin Literary Award, is a story about the wildness of youth and learning to live with its passing.

When paramedic Bruce Pike is called out to deal with another teenage adventure gone wrong, he knows better than his colleague, better than the kid's parents, what happened and how. Thirty years before, that dead boy could have been him.

A relentlessly gripping and deeply moving novel about the damage you do to yourself when you're young and think you're immortal.

Book Review: Breath by Tim Winton - Reviewed by (15 Jun 2011)

Breath by Tim Winton is a book that took me back to my childhood growing up in Perth. The way he describes the south coast of Western Australia, the bays and waves is exactly how most people that have been there and surfed the waves would remember them. The story is uplifting and fresh. This was the first Winton book I have read and I now understand how so many people rave about it. I was given the book while suffering a bout of depression and couldnt find the motivation to read it. I now wish I did. I would rate this book 10 out 10 for the way it lifts the spirit and the way it bought me back to happier times. Tim Winton is going to be an Australian icon.
