Author Biography - Robert Thurman

Robert Thurman is the internationally acknowledged Western authority on Buddhism, he has studied Tibetan Buddhism for over 40 years and was the first Westerner to be admitted as a novice monk in the Tibetan order. He is currently a professor at Columbia University, has been made one of 'Time' magazine's 25 most influential people of the year (and is an outspoken critic of George Bush's administration) but despite all this he is best known as the father of Uma Thurman.
