Anna and Natasha are two old friends who share a grotty flat in Bradford. By day they work side by side in a shoe shop, and on Saturday nights regularly frequent the dodgy local night club, The Apollo. Spurred on by the fact that the club is closing down, and fed-up with the calibre of men they meet there week after week, the girls decide to go upmarket and visit a more expensive club, Bartok's. It pays off and on their first night there Anna meets Richard and Natasha, Geoffrey. For a while, happy in their new relationships, it all seems too good to be true but the course of true love does not run smooth; Richard is married, and Geoffrey is living a lie...Funny, compelling and intelligent, Robert Craig's second novel is an eye-opening expose of the single life which never resorts to cliche.

UK Kirkus Review »
Best friends since birth, Natasha and Anna left school as quickly and as unqualified as possible, educated only to pram-pushing level, and spend their days working in a shoe shop and their Saturday nights in dodgy local nightclub The Apollo. This hilarious and sometimes sad novel follows the girls as they decide to upgrade to a classier club where they both meet the men of their dreams Richard and Geoffrey. In typical fashion the men are not what they seem and an intricate web of lies and heartbreak unfolds. Robert Craig deals with the theme of love and all its complexities in a witty and engaging manner but ultimately it is his treatment of the strength of female friendship that is most impressive in this warm and funny novel. A perfect beach book and definitely one for the ladies! (Kirkus UK)
