Description - Always Feel a Friend by Peter Biddlecombe
Having already dragged his beleaguered expense account around no fewer than 170 countries of variable merit, Peter Biddlecombe is literally miles ahead of every other travel writer. Wittily and informatively he brings a unique businessman's perspective to his destinations. Unlike many other travel writers who can look in from the outside and paint a leisurely portrait of the sights and sounds of exotic places, Biddlecombe has to land running in order to survive. In ALWAYS FEEL A FRIEND, the destinations include Cape Verde, Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi, Mauritius, Samoa and Fiji. There is also a bizarre interlude in Paraguay, a country with some very unusual citizens.

Book Reviews - Always Feel a Friend by Peter Biddlecombe
UK Kirkus Review »
Light-hearted anecdotes about a bewildering variety of odd places and odd encounters. This is Biddlecombe's tenth collection of travel tales and it seems his destinations - from Bissau and Banjul to Avarua and Asuncion - are growing more obscure. He sustains a pleasing, chatty tone throughout. It feels like a cousin relating stories about his last bizarre trip to the back and beyond, which you'll never visit yourself but feel curious about anyway. Despite the light touch, there's a surprising amount of gentle political satire, and a few hit or miss puns - he signs off his chapter on Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, with the line, "plead a Praia engagement".
