Description - On Altering Architecture by Fred Scott

The discipline of interior design is distinct from pure architecture in its theories and practices. In his new text, Fred Scott brings together ideas of what might constitute a theory of interior, or interventional design, which fills a wide gap in the body of literature convering the design and evolution of interior space in buildings. Of equal concern is the philosophy of conservation, preservation and restoration as the author explores the evolution of buildings and the many social and political issues embedded in these subjects. The masterworks of interventional design found in architectural history are compared and contrasted at length in a compelling way.
