IRVING M. KLOTZ, PhD, is Morrison Professor Emeritus in the Departments of Chemistry and of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology at Northwestern University. He has published books on thermodynamics and biochemical energetics, as well as many research papers on ligand--receptor interactions and the structure and function of proteins.
