UK Kirkus Review »
There are already shelves of books on the Impressionists; any new book must therefore offer something new. It is to the credit of Denvir's book that it succeeds in doing just that. By recording the story of Impressionism as it happened - as a diary extending from its birth through its greatest achievements to its lasting legacy - it chronicles more than 10,000 events, episodes, incidents, encounters, milestones, personal secrets, unexpected connections and influences. With more than 400 illustrations, this is a complete record of the artists and their times; an indispensable guide that will enjoy wide appeal among art-lovers, whatever the level of their interest.
