Description - Eragon by Christopher Paolini
When Eragon finds a polished stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. Overnight his simple life is shattered and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds. Book Review: Eragon by Christopher Paolini - Reviewed by Brekalilly (25 May 2011)
I couldn’t put this book down! Dare I say it, but this work rivals that of the great JRR Tolkien. Ok, maybe I’m going just a little overboard, but this is a seriously good quality fantasy novel! Amazing imagination has gone into the creation of creatures and this is combined with excellent writing. There is wonderful light and shade in this book, you get a vivid picture of the characters and the setting. They made a movie out of the book and it did not do it justice in any way! I have read the second and third books in this series and am waiting in anticipation for the last instalment! It’s a great series for teenagers and adults, but if you plan on buying this for a teenager, keep in mind that the beginning of the third book is quite gruesome. Given that this is Christopher Paolini's first book, it's amazing! This is one talented guy. I loved this book and if you like fantasty I'm sure you'll love it too.
