Author Biography - Tessa Livingstone
Tessa Livingstone has always been interested in children. Armed with a Psychology and Physiology degree from Oxford University she worked for a while with children in Europe and the Middle East before coming back to London for a PhD in Brain Sciences. She funded this partly by freelance journalism which she enjoyed so much she decided to go full time and got a job at the BBC. Since then she has researched, directed and written award-winning documentaries and, in 1998, initiated the project that was to make her name. Child of Our Time was conceived as a longitudinal study of childhood. Tessa added her considerable knowledge of child psychology to make the series famous for its eclectic mix of human stories and science. Ten years later Tessa is Executive Producer and Child of Our Time is still going strong. With another ten years until the Child of Our Time children are grown up, there's still plenty to discover about 21st century childhood and how our genes and environment make us who we are.
