Description - The Red Queen by Isobelle Carmody

The time has come at last for Elspeth Gordie to leave the Land on her quest to find and stop the computermachine Sentinel from unleashing the deadly Balance of Terror arsenal. But before she can embark on her quest, she must find a lost key; and although she has long prepared for this day, nothing is as she imagined. This is the final, dramatic volume in series of books that undoubtedly shines as one of the most fantastic, and fantastical, tapestries ever woven.

Author Biography - Isobelle Carmody

Isobelle Carmody is one of Australia's most highly acclaimed authors of fantasy. She began her first book, Obernewtyn, when she was fourteen and has since written some of our most beloved works in this genre. Whilst she is perhaps best known for the Obernewtyn Chronicles (currently comprising six volumes), her novel The Gathering was joint winner of the 1993 Children's Literature Peace Prize and the 1994 CBC Book of the Year Award. Also, Greylands, was joint winner of the 1997 Aurealis Award for Excellence in Speculative Fiction - Young Adult Division, and was named a White Raven at the 1998 Bologna Children's Book Fair. Isobelle's work extends to readers outside the traditional fantasy readership with the wonderfully evocative series aimed at 10-12year olds The Legend of Little Fur and another, equally meaningful, series The Kingdom of the Lost; the first volume (The Red Wind ) of which was winner of the CBC 2011 - Younger Readers Award. She has written many short stories for both children and adults and has published a picture book The Wrong Thing, illustrated by Declan Lee.
