Book Review: ABC Book of Australian Poetry by Libby Hathorn - Reviewed by Boobook (29 Jan 2011)
This book provides an excellent blend of old favourites and new poems for Australian kids.
The pages are thick and smooth and I particularly like that there is a lot of white space on each page--the poems look inviting (and not overwhelming) for kids who want to read on their own.
Bright, lively illustrations show the many faces of Australia and lead the reader through to the end of the book as we follow the river in Cassandra Allen's artwork.
This is not one of those fusty dusty poetry books you own but never read! It looks quite at home with the other children's books on our shelves and my kids often request it as part of their bedtime story line-up.
