Description - Gastrointestinal Disorders and Nutrition by Tonia Reinhard
Taking into account the importance of the GI tract's role in maintaining optimum wellness, this book describes the processes of ingestion and digestion, the many things that can go wrong with the GI system, and how to stop problems before they start. Each section will focus on the various diseases of the upper GI tract and the lower GI tract and the author looks at up-to-date research into the cause and treatment of the diseases, with special emphasis on nutrition regimens. The most effective way, if not the only way, to treat gastrointestinal disorders is through various diets. The major problem with diets that treat GI disorders is that whenever foods are eliminated from a diet, so are the nutrients the foods contain. This presents an explanation of each type of gastrointestinal disorder and offers a diet to treat it.
