UK Kirkus Review »
A journalist, stricken with grief after her mother's death, is forced to leave the sanctuary she has built for herself in Paris for her original home, New York. She returns after a scandal blackens her name, to face an alienated family and an intriguing story. She promptly finds herself embroiled in a mystery surrounding a missing composer, an ex-lover and a multi-million dollar legacy. This is an entrancing read, combining the qualities of page turner and solid literary achievement. Food, sex, love and death are all served up in irresistibly lush prose and the relationships between father, mother, daughters and lovers are perfectly drawn. In fact, apart from a slightly anti-climactic ending (I was hoping for an extra twist - the villain was easy to spot), I haven't enjoyed a book so much for a long time. (Kirkus UK)
